That does seem to be skogaliten's problem, which is also the reason why I am accused of
"ifrågasätta all svensk myndighetsutövning".
I know next to nothing about
svensk myndighetsutövning and would thus have a hard time coming up with a way of
ifrågasätta it. The problem seems to be that many Swedes consider it to be an attempt to
"destabilisera det svenska samhället" if Sweden's national epidemiologist is
ifrågasatt - and this is in spite of the fact that the guy has done his utmost to destabilize the Swedish health-care system and the confidence that Swedes have had in it.
The weird thing is that many Swedish nationalists seem to value this
confidence more than they value the actual
performance of the health-care system, which makes them want to believe Anders Tegnell even when he is
destroying it - much like Trump's Republican fans in the USA.
So for the sake of skogaliten, let us take a look at what the guy who is supposed to epitomize the excellence of Swedish pandemic expertise has to offer:
Dessutom vet man inte svaret förrän ganska långt in i framtiden.
TV4 has good reason to wonder, but they should not expect a straightforward answer from this guy. And they do not get one.
Instead of answering the question about the
Nordic countries, he immediately begins misleading them and pointing to
other countries with a
higher death toll than Sweden: Belgium (always his favorite!), the Netherlands and the UK. He then mentions Denmark, Norway and Finland, the countries he was asked about, but instead of answering the question, he presents the numbers (well, more or less) for population density in Norway, Finland and Sweden as if they might somehow be the answer to the question from TV4. So apparently
Sverige har drabbats så mycket hårdare än övriga Norden because Sweden's
befolkningstäthed is so much higher than Norway's and Finland's.
Right?!
No, not at all!
Let's take a look at the
population density of countries per km
2 that Anders Tegnell himself wanted to use in his comparison:
Finland: 16
Norway: 17
Sweden: 23
Denmark: 135 (Why did he leave Denmark out of his comparison with other Nordic countries?!)
UK: 280
Belgium: 376
Netherlands: 422
It is actually
relevant to include population density as one of the parameters that impact the spread of a virus:
In Finland, the Covid-19 death toll per million is 74, in the Netherlands, it is 554.
(In the UK it is 877, in Belgium, it is 1,456. Thank God for Belgium!)
The population density of countries that Anders Tegnell himself picked for his comparison make it clear:
The most relevant countries to compare Sweden with are Finland and Norway, not Belgium.
I hope that this satisfies skogaliten's alleged desire for science. The emphasized sentence in the quotation shows that Anders Tegnell is the wrong guy to turn to for science. He has capitulated, again much like Trump. To Tegnell, numbers are good for one thing only: to be manipulated to make his disastrous strategy look good, even though the Swedish strategy is the worst thing that has happened to old and otherwise vulnerable Swedes in this millennium.
The 7,000 dead Swedes (8,000 before Christmas? Or more?) are Anders Tegnell's contribution to science. That is what this guy is.
Denna väldigt komplicerade sjukdom is not nearly as complicated as he wants you to think. At this point it has become pretty obvious which measures work against the spread of SARS-CoV-2 and which measures don't.
Orsak och verkan have not suddenly been
invalidated because some authoritarian ******* tells you so.
Wake up, skogaliten! You are supposed to be some kind of skeptic, aren't you?!
Att ifrågasätta myndighetsutövning och destabilisera falsk auktoritet is what we do!
